HERTZ Car Rental at Dublin Airport

Dublin is the largest airport in terms of passenger traffic on the island of Ireland, and is ranked as 17th busiest in the world for international traffic. It is located approximately 10km, or 6.2 miles north of Dublin city, and is part of Collinstown, in the county of Fingal. In 2011, the airport had 18.8 million passengers pass through it's terminal buildings, and many of these passengers were tourists. Hertz Dublin Airport is one of the car hire companies available for passengers in need of transport, and is a convenient option for car rental from this airport location. Hertz is found at the majority of airports in Europe, and has built a trusted reputation over their many years of service.
The airport consists of two terminal buildings, named as Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Terminal 1 has been the main passenger building for commercial traffic for a number of years, but Terminal 2 is a newer construction, and was completed in 2010. It has a capacity for fifteen million passengers per annum, creating an overall capacity of 35 million per year. It is mainly used for long-haul flights by various airline companies, and for the majority of the flights offered by Aer Lingus, for which the airport is a hub. For the convenience of passengers, car hire companies have rental counters in both terminals. Hertz can be found in the main arrivals hall of Terminal 1, and at the new multi-storey car park in Terminal 2. Signs for car hire lead the way from the arrivals area in Terminal 2. In both terminals, the operating hours of Hertz are from 05:00 to 01:00, Monday to Sunday.
Gold counter service is available for members of the Hertz #1 Club Gold. This is a dedicated rental counter for more frequent renters (persons who have rented a Hertz vehicle three or more times in a twelve month period), and allows for faster service. Although this membership is only available to certain customers, occasional renters can benefit from being a member of the Hertz #1 Club, and also enjoy many time and money saving opportunities. The services are free of charge, and generally quicken the process of vehicle reservations, collections and returns. Child seats can be hired from this Hertz location, as well as the Hertz NeverLost In-Car Navigation System, which is able to provide accurate directions to any destination in Ireland. It also has a selection of a few languages, and is pre-programmed with thousands of points of interest. Child seats are best used for babies and young children, and all children under the age of twelve should be seated in the rear of the vehicle. Seat-belts are required for all persons travelling in Ireland.
Additional equipment available could include Hertz hand controls for disabled drivers, suitable for use on certain types of automatic vehicles. This device, unlike the pieces of equipment previously mentioned, is free of charge, but will require an advanced reservation. Hand controls are used by persons with a lower limb disability, as they only operate the accelerator and brake pedals of the vehicle. When reserving a vehicle from one of the car rental companies, make sure that you have indicated if it will be a one way hire. Hertz one way hires, or the Hertz Rent-It-Here and Leave-It-There service, is convenient for travelers who are not returning to Dublin, as it allows the vehicle to be delivered to an alternative rental location. One way hires may incur additional charges.
From Hertz, Dublin Airport, the primary renter and all additional drivers will need to meet the minimum age requirements as set by the location, which can be 21, 23 or 25, depending on the car category chosen. A drivers license will be need to be shown upon collection of the vehicle, and should have been held by the person in his/her country of residence for at least a year prior to the rental date. A major credit card will also be required. Hertz is one of the few car rental companies that allow their customers to hire vehicles by their specific makes and models, rather than just by category. In the Hertz Fun Collection, the Audi A1 can be hired, and the Hertz Prestige Collection contains the BMW X5 and the Jaguar XF.
Vehicles in the Standard car category are more ordinary rentals, and are ideal for travelling of all distances. Small cars are similar to the Ford Ka, Ford Fiesta and Nissan Micra, while larger vehicles could include the Peugeot 3008, Opel Insignia, Mazda 6 or the BMW 320i. Many of these vehicles have a manual transmission, but some will have automatic transmissions, which is an easier option for some customers. An additional vehicle category from Hertz contains 4-wheel drives, SUVs and Minivans. The Renault Traffic and VW Caravelle are large vehicles able to accommodate up to nine passengers, and the Ford Galaxy and Peugeot 5008 are popular choices for seven passengers. The Volvo XC90 is a Premium SUV with an automatic transmission and air conditioning.
Keep in mind that cars in Ireland drive on the left hand side of the road, and the speed limits should be maintained at all times. They are 50kph in towns, 100kph on open roads and 120kph on motorways. Speeds should be lowered if you are travelling with a trailer, or if the roads are wet. All further details regarding car rental is available from Hertz Dublin Airport.
